New Youth Ministry Director: Jonathan McKenzie

Hello, I am Jonathan McKenzie, the new youth director here at St. Luke’s. I am so excited to get to know y’all as I begin to serve. Here is a little bit of my story to help you get to know me better:

I grew up in Texas as a pastor’s kid. Growing up I never remember a time when I was not madly in love with Jesus, but it was not really until middle school that the faith I was raised in really became my own. In middle school I really became interested in driving deep into the Bible and studying theology. It was about that time I also began feeling a call to ministry. During high school, I read/experienced/listened my way into the Reformational Anglican tradition by reading Church history, experiencing liturgical worship, and by listening to some really helpful Anglican podcasts. Last year I moved to Sanford to attend Reformation Bible College where I am currently studying Christian thought. Last Advent I stumbled into the 6pm service and knew I had found my new Church home.

Growing up my dad would always say “there are only two things that last forever: God’s Word and people. So we need to spend our time investing God’s Word into people.” Likewise he had us memorize the Westminster Shorter Catechism question 1 “Q: What is the chief end of man? A: Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.” I am looking forward to glorify God and enjoy him forever by investing God's Word into God's people as I spend time with the youth here at St. Luke’s.

New Children's Ministry Director: Lindy Zepp

We are pleased to announce that Lindy Zepp has accepted the position of Cathedral Children’s Director.  Many of you already know Lindy, her husband Kris, and their three boys (Magnus 10, Augustus 7, Atlus 4), but here is a bit more about the Zepp family.

The Zepp family came to our Cathedral two years ago when Kris’ career transitioned from firefighting in Jacksonville to water mitigation/restoration in Orlando.  Having attended an Anglican church in Jacksonville, they decided to check out the Cathedral and quickly determined it was their church home.

The Zepps have loved being a part of a small group on Wednesday nights and participating in the Cathedral Kids ministry.  Kris and Lindy completed Canon Bales’ Confirmation class this past Winter and were on track to be confirmed Easter Sunday before it was postponed by the Covid-19 pandemic.  “From the beginning,” Lindy says, “everyone made our family feel so welcome and we were very grateful for that.  It has been great getting to know this congregation and I am very excited to partner with parents in serving our precious children.”

Lindy attended Bryan College in Dayton.  She homeschools Magnus and Augustus through the Circle Christian School hybrid program and Atlus attends Monarch Learning Academy. Lindy enjoys running a small business that advocates for artisans in vulnerable parts of the world through selling handmade, fair trade accessories. She is an Enneagram 7.

Please join us in welcoming Lindy to the Cathedral Staff Team!

Jason Mackey - Pastoral Intern

Jason Mackey was drawn to the theological depth, biblical orthodoxy, and liturgical beauty of the Cathedral Church of St. Luke. He finds spiritual sustenance in the rhythm of daily prayer, and feels at home amongst the clergy and congregation. He also loves that the Cathedral ministers to Orlando and beyond.

An Orlando native, Jason grew up an atheist and became a Christian at nineteen, after a nearly life-ending skateboarding accident. During undergraduate studies in History at UCF, he helped plant a non-denominational Church, pastored small group communities, and started a surfing ministry. Recognizing the need for biblically literate leadership, he enrolled at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and is currently finishing a Master of Divinity. While in Seminary, Jason has worked as a High School History teacher and Research Assistant. He read his way into the Anglican tradition studying Church history and theology, and would love to talk about that journey!

When the pandemic hit, classes went online, and Jason returned home to Orlando from the Gordon-Conwell campus in Massachusetts. Through God's kind providence, this presented the opportunity to begin serving at the Cathedral, while completing his degree from a distance. Jason has been helping with technical production as the Cathedral went online. He is so excited to exercise his gifts and passions for discipleship, education, and community-building as a Pastoral Intern at the Cathedral!
