Worship with Music
The Cathedral maintains high standards for offering quality worship, and you’re warmly invited to try some of our different styles. Music for our Principal Holy Eucharist each Sunday morning is led by the Cathedral Choir and Choristers. Prelude music begins prior to this 10:15 liturgy, which is celebrated in contemporary language, but in a “high church” fashion, with incense, bells, and festive processions. The service includes heartycongregational singing of hymns and chants, plus some of the finest anthems and motets in the sacred choral repertoire, in addition to music by local composers.
Two other services on Sundays also include music. At 8:00 am, a traditional Eucharist features organ music with some congregational singing. At 6:00 pm, a more modern Eucharist blends classic hymnody with modern songs, piano, and guitar. Other musical services like Choral Evensong, or Lessons and Carols, are held occasionally at 6 p.m. and are announced in our Concert Calendar.
Volunteers
The Music Department is always looking for volunteers to help, host receptions, usher and assist at concerts and special services, prepare flyers and catalog and file music in the music library, as needed. If you are interested, please call the Music Office.
Sponsorships
Contributions are always welcome for choir scholarships, choir camps and tours, our annual concert series and the music discretionary fund. All donations are tax-deductible.
